A SHOT of adrenalin can revive a failing heart, but researchers in Austria have found that administering too much can cause brain damage. Heart attack victims sometimes suffer neurological problems if their brains are starved of oxygen for many minutes. But Wilhelm Behringer and his colleagues at the Vienna General Hospital say the amount of adrenalin that doctors give to kick-start a stalled heart may also be a factor. In their sample of 151 heart attack patients, 88 had mild mental impairment or worse six months later.
